Plumbing Repairs in Folkestone

Not every plumbing problem is an emergency, but almost all of them get worse and more expensive if they are left. We carry out plumbing repairs of every size across Folkestone, Hythe and the surrounding villages, and we are happy to take on the small jobs a lot of firms turn down because they are not worth the diary space.

If you have a list of things that need sorting, tell us when you book and we will work through them in one visit. Three small jobs in a single appointment costs considerably less than three separate call-outs, and most people have been putting off more than one thing.

What we repair

  • Dripping, stiff and seized taps

  • Running toilets and weak flushes

  • Leaking pipes, joints, valves and radiators

  • Leaks under sinks and behind appliances

  • Slow draining sinks, baths and showers

  • Low water pressure and poor flow

  • Noisy, banging or vibrating pipework

  • Overflowing cisterns and tanks

  • Failed stopcocks and isolating valves

  • Ageing pipework that keeps failing

  • Outside taps and garden plumbing

Why small jobs are worth doing now

The jobs people put off are the cheapest to fix and the most expensive to ignore.

A dripping tap erodes the seat it is trying to seal against, so a two minute washer change eventually becomes a full tap replacement. A running toilet quietly puts a serious volume of water through your meter every single day, and you only find out when the bill arrives. A weeping joint under a sink will let go eventually, and it usually chooses a day when nobody is home.

Our guides on leaking tap: repair or replace and toilet keeps running, causes and solutions cover the two we are called out to most.

What a plumbing repair costs

We work to a minimum charge covering the first hour, then in 30 minute increments after that. Parts are itemised separately on your invoice rather than buried inside the labour figure, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

If a job turns out to be larger than it sounded on the phone, we tell you what it will cost before carrying on, not afterwards. And if the honest answer is that the repair is not worth doing and replacement makes more sense, we will say that too.

Three things worth knowing before you book anyone:

Ask what the call-out fee covers. Some firms charge to attend and then charge again for the first hour of work. Ours covers attendance and the first hour together.

Ask whether the diagnostic comes off the repair. On the jobs that need proper diagnosis rather than an obvious fix, ours does.

Ask for parts to be itemised. A single lump sum makes it impossible to tell whether you were charged fairly for the part or the labour.

Our article on questions to ask before approving a plumbing quote goes into this properly, and how to choose a local plumber in Folkestone covers what else to check. Both are worth two minutes before you hand work to anyone, us included.

We diagnose before we replace parts

A lot of plumbing gets fixed by replacing components until the symptom disappears. That works eventually, and you pay for every part that was never the problem.

Poor water pressure is the clearest example. It could be the incoming main, a partly closed stopcock, a scaled outlet, a gravity fed system behaving exactly as gravity fed systems do, or a shared supply affected by a neighbour. Those have five different fixes and four of them are cheap. See what causes low water pressure at home.

Noisy pipework is the same. Banging, whistling, humming and gurgling all mean different things, and the sound plus when it happens usually tells us where to look before we open anything. See noisy pipes and what the sounds may mean.

Two things worth sorting before you need them

Your stopcock. A surprising number of the emergencies we attend are far worse than they needed to be because the stopcock would not turn. If yours is stiff, seized, or you are not certain where it is, that is a ten minute job now and a flooded kitchen later. See how to find and use your stopcock.

Your flexible hoses. The braided hoses feeding taps, dishwashers and washing machines have a service life and they fail without any warning at all. If yours are over ten years old, replacing them is genuinely cheap insurance against a ruined floor. See how to spot a failing flexible hose.

Staying on top of the small stuff prevents most of the large stuff. Our annual plumbing maintenance checklist covers what to check each year.

Specialist work

Some jobs need more than a general repair visit, and we cover those too:

Common questions

Do you take on really small jobs? Yes. A single tap or a running toilet is a perfectly normal booking, and we would rather you called us about it now than after it has done some damage.

Can you do several jobs in one visit? Yes, and it is much cheaper. Give us the full list when you book so we bring the right parts.

Do you charge to come out and look? Our minimum charge covers attendance and the first hour of work, so you are not paying separately just for someone to turn up.

Do you work on rented properties? Yes, with the landlord or agent's instruction. If you are a tenant, report it to them first.

Are you Gas Safe registered? Yes, for all gas work. Anything involving a boiler, gas pipework or a gas appliance is carried out under our Gas Safe registration.

We carry out plumbing repairs across Folkestone, Hythe, Cheriton, Sandgate, Seabrook, Hawkinge and Dover.
